SWAU is proud to announce that we will be conducting a very rare, exclusive autograph signing with Keira Knightley!

Keira Knightley is an English actress known for her work in both independent films and blockbusters, particularly period dramas, she has received several accolades, including nominations for two Academy Awards, three British Academy Film Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award. In 2018, she was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to drama and charity.

Keira's first major role was in the Star Wars universe when she was cast as Sabé in Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999). After Star Wars, she played a footballer in the sports film Bend It Like Beckham (2002), and went on to achieve global stardom for playing Elizabeth Swann in the swashbuckler fantasy series Pirates of the Caribbean, beginning in 2003. She starred in the romantic comedy Love Actually in 2003.

For her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in the period romance Pride & Prejudice (2005), Knightley was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She starred in a number of more period pieces, playing a complex love interest in Atonement (2007), tastemaker Georgiana Cavendish in The Duchess (2008), and the titular socialite in Anna Karenina (2012). She forayed into contemporary dramas, appearing as an aspiring musician in Begin Again (2013) and a medical student in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014). Knightley returned to historical films playing Joan Clarke in The Imitation Game (2014), earning her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and starred as the eponymous writer in Colette (2018).

About Keira

Keira Knightley is internationally renowned for her unbridled commitment to her art and for challenging herself with each new role.

It was recently announced that Keira will lead and executive produce a new limited series for Netflix called BLACK DOVES. Knightley will star as Helen, a woman with a secret identity who embarks on a passionate affair. When her lover falls victim to London’s shadowy underworld, Helen’s employers send an old friend, Sam, to protect her. Helen and Sam embark on a thrilling adventure about learning to trust in one another in a world where trust can get you killed. Production is expected to begin in Fall 2023.

Keira was recently seen starring in the film, BOSTON STRANGLER, from 20th Century Studios. Based on the infamous Boston Strangler murders, the film tells the true story of Loretta McLaughlin, the first reporter to connect the murders and break the story. Hulu released the film on March 17, 2023 and was Hulu’s most streamed movie of 2023 after delivering impressive numbers the weekend and following week after its release.

Previously, Keira was seen in Camille Griffin’s film, SILENT NIGHT; starring opposite Matthew Goode, the film follows a family coming together for the holidays. The film premiered at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival and released in December 2021. Additionally, Keira voices the young artist Charlotte Salomon in the animated drama film, CHARLOTTE. The film was inspired by the World War II autobiographical painting series “Life? Or Theatre?” by Charlotte Salomon. The film premiered at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival and in 2022 at the London Jewish Film Festival.

Keira can also be seen in Philippa Lowthorpe’s MISBEHAVIOUR; alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessie Buckley and Keeley Hawes.  The film tells the true story of how the Women’s Liberation Movement began with disrupting the 1970 Miss World beauty competition in London.  It was released in the UK in March 2020 and in the US in September 2020.

In 2014, Keira received critical acclaim for her work in Morten Tyldum’s THE IMITATION GAME, co-starring opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. Her character, ‘Joan Clarke,’ an English cryptographer, helps to crack the German Enigma code during World War II.  For her performance, Keira earned Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations in the category of Best Supporting Actress.

Her work also includes a trio of collaborations with Joe Wright for films PRIDE AND PREJUDICEATONEMENT and ANNA KARENINA. Her critically acclaimed portrayal in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE garnered her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role; and she was also nominated for a BAFTA Award and Golden Globe Award for her performance in ATONEMENT.

Keira has also starred in the worldwide box office blockbuster hit, Disney’s PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN, starring opposite Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, starring as ‘Elizabeth Swann.’ The franchise of films includes PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: THE BLACK PEARLPIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN’S CHESTPIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: AT WORLD’S END; as well as the latest instalment, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES.
